Finding myself semi-retired, I liked the idea of ART CLASSES- something I always wished I had done.

So I am so pleased that I took the plunge 2 years ago, I have learned a lot especially with water colours First I found working in watercolours

to be very frustrating , but after a lot of practice, patience and being taught some very clever techniques and tricks, I have managed to achieve some interesting and wonderful effects, especially when working on flowers , country scenes etc.

Now I find myself constantly on the look out for various subjects and ideas that I might be able to use as a painting and when walking out in the country side these days I seem to be much more alert to the landscapes, tree profiles, wild flowers and different species of wild animals etc , etc. I hadn't realised how much I must have missed before !    I am now getting very enthusiastic in painting and well pleased with the work done so far.

I have found all our projects very demanding which has meant as well as having to learn the techniques and how to use colour, I have to be more observant.

I am really enjoying the challenge and hope that in time I will be  nearer actually painting what it is I had hoped to paint

My name is Julia , I started  Art Classes ten years ago, when my son went to the Rudolf Steiner School, Forest Row , East Sussex. I was dragged into a parents art-class, declaring “ I’ve never painted before, I can’t do it “.

After 5 years of Art lessons and a course, [ History of Art ] at Tobias School of Art and various other classes, I’ve now enrolled myself in Harriet Brigdale’s  class to discover the world of oil – painting as I was disappointed with my water – colours fading in the light.
